My story

The pioneering rock 'n' roll singer, Billy Fury, received treatment at Alder Hey Children's Hospital, Liverpool, for the heart complaint that troubled him throughout his life.

Alder Hey is now Europe's largest children's hospital.  The heart unit treats 7,000 children a year as out-patients, and carries out 500 cardiac catheter procedures and 500 heart operations annually.

billyfury.com has adopted Alder Hey as its official charity, and has already raised more than £8,600 through concerts, memorabilia sales and individual donations.

This page has been placed on the internet to make future giving even easier.

The operational manager of the heart unit, Ms Mal Doran, wrote to billyfury.com: "Many of us still remember Billy with great affection and believe we were robbed of a true star of Liverpool."

If money raised can help to save the life of a single child, I think that is the greatest tribute that we can hope to pay to Billy's memory.
