My name is Matthew Plummer, an electrician in a previous life, now a mature student reading Forensic Computing at Staffordshire University.
In 1996 I was badly injured in an accident, with a head injury & crushed pelvis I was not expected to be able to walk again unaided.
During my rehabilitation I decided I wanted to run the London Marathon in millennium year, This goal helped my recovery and by 1999 I was in training. In 2000, I ran for the Winged Fellowship Trust raising £5000 +
The running bug had truly got me and I ran in other races Manchester 2001, London 2002, New York 2002 and London again 2003.
In 2003 my good leg had enough, breaking in 4 places during a run, I spent 8 months with my leg in a frame missing the 2004 Marathon. It was another 4 months before I could start training again, and I am being allowed to run this years marathon with a plate in my leg.
Training is going well, but must admit this could be my last full distance London Marathon.
I consider myself lucky my injuries in 96' meant I had to rebuild my life from scratch learn how to walk talk communicate all over again at 22 years old.
