Hey guys,
We are embarking on the MONGOLIA CHARITY RALLY: a massive, 10-000 mile pan-continental driving adventure for charity across five mountain ranges, two deserts and the barren and inhospitable lands of eastern Europe, central Asia (including possibly to look for nuclear facilities in Iran) and finally to the land of Mongolia. Final destination, the city of Ulaan Bataar, deep in the Gobi desert.
We will drive in a 'working vehicle' which we donate to the country upon arrival - a 1998 Toyota Hi-Lux Pickup Truck (Top Gear's 'Indestructible Car') recently bought off ebay.
Before it gets there, we will be taking it on the following route:
England, France, Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan, (Iran?), Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan (i liiike!), Russia, and finally Mongolia!
We need to reach a target of £1000 for Save the Children before we depart. This is where we need your help. We have chosen the 'Save the Children' charity from the list of possibilities - its immediate objectives to change children's lives for the better worldwide hits home more than any other.
Its current work directly responding to the suffering of children in the GAZA conflict especially needs everyone's aid to help save children's lives.
The humanitarian crisis in Gaza is worsening daily. Brought on by the escalation of conflict and by nearly two years of instability and political tensions, civilians in Gaza are without clean water, food, or electricity. They're trapped in appallingly dangerous conditions, and only a fraction of the aid urgently needed is getting through.
Children are suffering first, and they're suffering the most.
Save The Children also operates a number of highly regarded projects in Mongolia, which are hugely beneficial to the local population. In 2008, they helped to improve the quality of education for 12,125 pre- and primary school children.
We would be grateful for any donation, no matter how big or small!
