Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

PHEEEEEW! Despite a day of thunderstorms, torrential rain and flash floods, we had only 10 minutes of rain thank to Tim who was watching over us. Seventy one people braved the weather to make the start and made good time down to Goldhanger where the sun appeared and the temperature warmed up.

The walk along the Sea Wall to Heybridge Basin was lovely with the tide well in and a Folk Festival at the Milbeach brought on some jigs and reels. The second stop by the lock side was welcome with sandwiches and cakes disappearing quickly. From there, the blisters and sore legs began to bite but only 2 walkers needed support and there were lots of smiles at the end of the ''happy walk'' and real sense of achievement.

Thanks to all the marshals and 'pit stop' helpers and to Dave Milne and all the team at the Bull. A big THANK YOU to all the walkers for their support; many walked for many very personal and special reasons for walking.

In December 2005, our younger son, Tim, died of acute leukaemia after a 3 year fight. In 2008, we held the first Blackwater Forget Me Not Walk in his memory and to help other young people with blood cancers.

This year will be the fourth walk and we're looking forward to another lovely day and a beautiful walk through the Essex river and countryside.

Please contact me at john.reeve22@btinternet.com or on 07793 062576 for an entry form or donate to support our cause.

In 2006, during my walk to Germany, Julian, a football referee and blood cancer patient texted me to say that ''each step is a step forward for someone's life'' and I remember those words to his day.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT
