Bloodbikes is a service that delivers urgently needed medical items such as blood, biological samples, patient notes, x-rays and scans. This charity relies solely on fundraising, the freely given time of volunteers, and on a small fleet of motorbikes to make the deliveries. It saves the NHS hundreds of thousands of pounds in courier costs. CCT has adopted Bloodbikes as its charity and is helping to raise money for a new motorbike. Russell Attwood, CEO of Call Centre Technology Ltd, has recently enrolled as a volunteer rider for Bloodbikes. In May 2011, Russell, along with CCT colleagues, Martin Deaker and Richard Pinnington, will be joining forces with Mike Burns on a sponsored cycle covering 1,200 miles from Newcastle to Plymouth, visiting all 24 NHS Blood Centres to raise money for the charity. He hopes that the efforts of the cyclists will spread greater awareness of the services that the charity provides and to help raise enough money to buy a brand new motorcycle for Bloodbikes: www.bloodbikes.co.uk
