This is my daughter Hannah, aged about 8.5 months. A picture taken a few weeks before she died aged 9 months and 3 days old on 28 March 1984. One of the many babies who have died for no apparent reason, other than two simple words: cot death.
March 28 2009 will mark 25 years since her passing, in memory of her, and to perhaps do something to stop another young parent going through the pain and devastation that I went through that day I have decided to go on a fund raising venture - I'm going to drag my slightly (stop laughing) overweight, 51 year-old frame across the Sahara desert to raise funds for the Foundation fo5 the study of infant death.
I go on 6th March, flying to somewhere in Morocco, then hike over to Marrakesh. It's about 120kms in a straight line, but with all the hills and stuff it's probably a bit further still. I get back to the UK on 15th March, two weeks before the anniversary of her death.
