Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Chosen Charity: The Neo Natal Unit at The James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough.

The Raid De Pyrenees traverses the 463 miles across the Pyrenees Mountain Range from Hendaye on the French Atlantic coast to Cerbere on the Mediterranean coast.  It was established in 1950 keeping as close to the Spanish border as possible on surfaced roads, not surprisingly this takes in most of the big cols “climbs” en route .  Then, as if this was not hard enough the organizers introduced the rule that the route had to be completed within 100 hours! It is a challenge for sure, with over 11,000m of intense uphill cycling, ascending most of the famous cols in the Pyrenees, including beasts such as the " Tour De France" Tourmalet and Aubisque. The Challenge has been taken up to celebrate my big "40th Birthday" with two great mates Mark Leader and Dean Benson. We need to complete six months of intense training to ensure the challenge is completed in the alloted 100 Hours.  So to encourage us to train even harder please give generously to our chosen charity of The Neo Natal Unit at the James Cook University Hospital, where I work as the Engineering and Building Manager in the Carillion Estates Dept.  The Neo Natal Staff do a magnificant job in caring for seriously ill premature babies and i am hoping if we all give generously they can provide a little something extra for the parents and babies during their time spent on the unit.

We are paying all our own travel costs and hope that you will all dig deep for a great cause and sponsor us.
