Imagine standing at the edge of an open door in an aircraft, flying at 10,000 feet.  Imagine the noise of the engines and the wind ringing in your ears, with only the outline of distant fields below.  Imagine leaning forwards and letting go, falling forwards into the clouds, diving down through the air as you start freefalling at over 120 miles per hour…

On 6th September 2008 six members of the B P Collins Family Department (Sue Andrews, Annette Keevil, Vanessa Macleod, Petrova Caldecourt, Elaine Holt and Melanie Bataillard-Samuel) will be making that a reality by participating in a 10,000 feet parachute jump in aid of the Leonard Cheshire Disability, aiming to raise a minimum of £1,920. 

Locally, Leonard Disability Central Region runs 9 Residential Homes, 5 care at home services and 3 Day Centres and with 500 staff and 400 volunteers supports over 1,500 people with physical and learning disabilities and elderly people.  About 400 beneficiaries of the UK wide Workability Project live across the Region – the project breaks down barriers that exist to disabled people in the search for work and provide them, through free IT equipment and online training, with the skills and support needed to enter employment.
