Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the leading charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

Last week someone asked me to sponsor them for doing a 2 mile run.
Now I'm not one for decrying charitable ventures, but in my book that's called 'getting some exercise' and is a slippery slope at the bottom of which lies 'will you sponsor me, I'm having a bath?'
I've been running most of my adult life (not constantly, obviously) and average about 40km a week.
I'm going to ask you to sponsor me to go running.
I'll keep an online diary of my mileage (or kilometerage) on my facebook page and you can make a one-off donation or (if you're completely deranged) pay me per kilometer in perpetuity.
Three years ago my Mum died of a stroke and most of my family (on both sides) are beset with cardio vascular wrongness of one kind or another.
So, there's a fairly strong likelihood that I will face the possibility of a stroke at some point. I suppose therefore, that what I'm asking you to do is sponsor me to help alleviate the probable cause of my own death.
Please give generously.
Many thanks
Johnny
