Update - 14 October - Inga and I would like to say a huge heartfelt thank you to all who sponsored us and to our supporters that turned up to cheer us on. We are still getting sponsors and so will endeavour to keep this page up to date. I have added some piccies of the day.
The weather was gorgeous and the scenery was spectacular, Inga and I really enjoyed it, so much so that we may do it again next year - but how could we top St Trinians on Tandems...................................
Thanks for taking the time to visit ourJustGiving page and for donating. (scroll to the bottom for updates)
Our event is a 6 mile cycle ride around the picturesque Holkham Hall (although whether we will be able to take in the scenery remains to be seen) on 4th October. The course is open from 10am until 4pm - enabling us to get round at least once! If you are doing nothing on that day, come on down and cheer us on - there will be refreshments and apparently there will be bike-hire (and repair!) available on site! I will try and update this site with our training schedule - we have started already - we have dusted down the bikes!!
A bit of a laugh..
After looking around at various events, Inga and I decided to go for the sponsored bike ride - it sounded so simple, at first. Inga and I have been known to occasionaly go into meltdown at work, and I think in one of those particular moments, we decided to do the bike ride on a tandem! Before we could change our minds - Viewpoint went out to the hospital and we had the offer of several tandems - thank you all! (And special thanks to Gill Southgate)
But what could really make us stand out in the crowd - stress at work has got a lot to answer for!
FANCY DRESS ON A TANDEM!!
Cagney and Lacey, Vicar of Dibley, Nuns?? We couldn't decide, but after much deliberation we came up with the idea (well actually Inga did) of.. St Trinians. As news got round about our attire, Inga and I were oblivious of what some people thought we were dressing up as. Not the same as us! Straw boaters, pinafore dresses and lacrosse sticks or stockings, gymslips and high heels??
So will we dress up and as what?? That really depends on how many donations we get!!!!
I do know one thing though - we are looking forward to it and especially to raising as much money as we can for a local cancer charity - so thank you from the bottoms of our stockings!!

Update - 10 September 2009
The Tandem has been tested! Inga and I managed a whole loop which equated to about 1/3 mile!! The only thing we must remember is to shout "Free-wheel" when we do free-wheel to enable the other person to stop pedaling as well!! We intend to step up the training plan immediately!!
30 September - Inga and I completed a near 9 mile road trip on the Tandem on Saturday (27th!). It was an experience!! Put it this way, we were walking like cowboys (well girls) for a good couple of hours afterwards! However we have proved that we can do and enjoy it! We just hope that our fancy dress doesn't get in the way on the day!!!!
