About Broadway homelessness and support
Support
Broadway provides support for the various needs of single homeless people. The purpose of this support is to help people make the journey from street to home. The charity’s services extend from outreach services in west London to floating support services in Camden and Haringey: from a Day Centre in Shepherd’s Bush to supported housing in Southwark.
Every day Broadway provides services to over 1,500 people who are either homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. The work does not end on the street, Broadway also supports 500 people in their own homes each day.
Guide
By developing trust and demonstrating respect, Broadway shows individuals the choices open to them and the potential within them.
- The Employment and Training Unit helps clients develop their skills and confidence, access a range of employment, training and volunteering schemes which are available, and find the solution which best suits them. The charity is developing resource centres in all of Broadway's major projects as well as with a number of partner agencies who do not have the resources to provide such services themselves.
- The "It's Your Move" team provides access to a resource bank of training courses, materials and information for homeless people and resettlement workers throughout London.
Influence
Broadway looks for new and better ways to create awareness among staff, funders, the media, government and general public about the needs of single homeless people. Broadway’s aims is to influence the policy and practice of agencies, institutions and government towards single homeless people.
For instance, Broadway manages CHAIN which was formerly known as the Rough Sleepers Register, which is an Internet based information system that collates data and records the work undertaken by all of London’s outreach teams and Direct Access Hostels who are working with rough sleepers. The system monitors their clients' progress through the homelessness system, enabling them to monitor their work and performance as well as enabling outreach teams and hostels to work together more effectively.
Broadway aims to do this, whatever it takes, however long it takes ensuring that people make the journey from street to home.
