Despite being stuck in France for days, being taken to a "house in the woods", a near death (bit of an overreaction) Babybel experience and Luca & Nathan's dodgy map reading... we're doing it again!!
This year Sheffield Uni's Bummit charity hitch-hike is going from Sheffield to Ljubljana in Slovenia then onto KRAKOW in Poland. That's 1600 odd miles from 13th - 20th April. With only our blagging skills to get us there!
This will all be worthwhile if we raise lots and lots of money for charity. At least £600! All the money raised goes to Sheffield RAG, who then give it out to many amazing charities throughout South Yorkshire & Europe. These charities are:
Sheffield User Survivor Trainers - a network of mental health service training in the South Yorkshire area. The charity offers a variety of courses to help those suffering with mental health problems, such as depression and self harm. The charity encourages those with problems to become trainers themselves and so confronting their problems and improving their self confidence
Doncaster Rape and Sexual Abuse Counselling - the service offers free one to one counselling to those who have experienced rape and sexual abuse. At present the service is open to both genders above the age of 14, but they are aiming to lower the age limit.
Operation Florian - the global charity provides equipment and training to improve fire fighting capabilities in areas of the world that are most in need. The charity is run entirely by volunteers and requires heavily on donations to keep it operating.
S.A.L.V.E (Support and Love Via Education) - the charity helps orphaned and rejected children leaving on the streets of Jina, eastern Uganda by taking them off the streets and into school which provides them with much need care, including counselling and most importantly education.
Even the smallest donations will be so much appreciated by us and so many disadvantaged people. So please please please count up your pennies!
