The Kim Trinder-Bywater cancer foundation provides financial support to improve the lives of people affected by cancer. It helps by providing oncology units with medical equipment to reduce waiting lists. The emotional side of cancer which affects us all is also cared for by providing financial support to top2toe units.
Kim was just 28 when cancer took her away from us,leaving her husband Mark and 5 year old son Ben behind. Kim found out she had cancer but never gave up the fight and always wanted to help someone else over herself, becase of the way she was Mark, Kim's family and Kim's friends decided to set up The Kim Trinder-Bywater Cancer Foundation in her memory. The foundation has been established in order to raise funds for equiptment and services that will further the amazing work done by all the staff in oncology units in the north east and eventualy the whole of the uk. The foundation was foundered in June 2005 and to date has raised over £30000 pounds. This money has been put straight to excellent use providing The North Tyneside General Hospital Oncology unit with 3 new cemo infusion pumps and this has already allowed the unit to wipe it's long waiting list and no longer has to have people queing to use machines. Not only are these machines a great help to the unit but for the cancer sufferer there brilliant too due to the machines been able to provide 2 different treatments at the same time they are sat for half the time being treated.
So Myself and a team of others have decided to run the 2008 great north run for the charity and hopefully raise enough money to do the same for another hospital. Please dig deep and sponsor me.
