On Saturday 3rd May a major cyclone tore into Burma devastating a country already suffering from massive economic problems. Thousands of survivors of Cyclone Nargis are lacking shelter, drinking water, power and communications. If the death toll is confirmed, Nargis ranks as one of the world's deadliest storms.
The Burmese government is now ready to accept international assistance. Globalteer has been requested, through a partner NGO, to provide help to assist in a secondary disaster relief team. One of the main focuses of this would be to provide funds to assist in the construction and distribution of Bio-sand water filters to provide safe drinking water to communities where water sources have been contaminated.
