From the 19th to the 27th August 2006 we embarked on a monumental challenge to busk in 9 cities in 9 days in order to raise funds for a new minibus and trailer. After many good years of use from both they are starting to show signs of age and we cannot wait any longer to replace them as they are both not only essential for our band, but also for all the outreach bands which we support across the North-East.
We started out in Penzance on the 19th August then headed to Bristol, Birmingham, Sheffield, Leeds, York, Newcastle, Largs, and finally Glasgow on the 27th August. The generosity of the people in each of the cities we visited has enabled us to be that much closer to our goal of £12,000 but we are not there yet!
The Buskathon was such a success that we are continuing the challenge in order to reach our goal of £12,000 to replace both.
We will be playing again in York city centre on 11th November and in North Shields on 16th December with a further date in Newcastle to be confirmed over the Christmas period for about 4 hours each day and all support would be greatly appreciated to help us to reach our goal.
