Karen Goode and Su Biela have decided to enter the Playtex London Moonwalk 2009 on May 16th in an effort to get fit and raise money for Breast Cancer charity. This will entail us (aka BustyBluesBabes) walking round London, at night, in our bras!! Come on - that's got to be worth a few bob of anyones money!!
We will be updating this page on a regular basis - giving you a running, sorry walking, commentry on our progress.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Walk The Walk Worldwide gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation. Other people will not be able to see how much you have sponsored us but please feel free to make a comment as this will be seen by all.
So please, please sponsor us now! Every little helps (as they say in Tescos)
UPDATE - 14.1.09. Started our training today. Brisk walk round the block at lunch time. Nearly 2 miles in 35 minutes. Mind you it wasn't without it's problems as ONE of us has very short legs!!!
UPDATE - 24.2.09. We cannot believe that we have hit our £500 fundraising target with still nearly 10 weeks to go. Of course we now have to raise the bar and so have upped it to £750. Thank you so much to everyone who has sponsored us so far
We are still training hard. Just lunch times at the moment, but we do have plans for a brisk walk in the park at the weekend.
UPDATE - 3.4.09. Our training has really taken a serious turn. With only 6 weeks to go we have started to walk some long distances. Saturday we walked from Selly Oak to Erdington. The 9 miles took us 3 hours so we are well on our way to do the 13.2 miles. We also walk home on a Thursday - extending it every week. Last night we walked 5 miles and have marked out routes that are longer for the weeks to come, as the nights get lighter. Many thanks to everyone that has sponsored us so far. We are overwhelmed by peoples generosity.
UPDATE: 14.4.09 - We would like to thank Gerry Keane, Landlord of The Anchor in Digbeth, who has agreed to support us in our fundraising effort. There is a 'bucket' going round the pub on match days and half of the collection will be going to St Mary's Hospice and half to our walk. Gerry is also arranging a fundraising bar-b-q in the summer for these causes. We will update on here when we have any more information. Many, many thanks Gerry! x
UPDATE: 13.5.09 - 3 days before our walk and we have had to update our fundraising target to £1,000!! We just cannot believe how generous people have been. Thank you all sooooo much. We hope to do you proud on Saturday. The decorating of the bra's is going nicely - a lovely royal blue theme. No surprise there then . Once again - thanks very much to all those who have donated. We couldn't have done this without your support
