Mbirizi school Uganda
Why your donation matters
Gloria taught her young students under the shade of the mango tree. She was saddened every time the rains came or the wind blew, for there would be no school until they passed, She longed for the day when she would have a proper classroom. Then she would really be able to teach them. Rain or wind would not stop her then. The elders of her village heard of CAMEO-Aid and applied for a grant. CAMEO-Aid agreed and with the money it sent they now have two new bright and airy classrooms. Gloria is now pleased. Her students are pleased. The elders are pleased. more children now enter school. But it could not be done without you. In Africa there are many Glorias and many need classrooms. with your help more children can get basic education. Your donation counts - donate today!
Case study: donations in action
Mbirizi village is in central Uganda, miles from the nearest main road. With a growing youth population the village elders were struggling to educate the children. Limited by a lack of money and no qualified teachers they adopted an approach of, "using what we have until we can get what we want". Taking the brightest of the people willing to teach they started some classes under the trees - OK on a pleasent day but impossible when the wind blows or the rains come. Needing classroms they approached CAMEO-Aid, UK who, following a site visit and evaluation, awarded the elders two grants to build two classrooms. Today 80-100 children use the classrooms each day and the village community has a facility for use outside of school time. Mr Katoche, chair of school governors commented, "we are extremely grateful to CAMEO-Aid for their supporting us. We now have two fine classrooms, and 100 children will receive lessons each day. Now we can raise the hopes of our children".
