Story
As our campus becomes more diverse, a need to provide strategic support to our underrepresented students to ensure equity becomes even more evident. Summer Bridge programs and mentor programs have shown to increase retention, create a sense of belonging, and present an overall welcoming environment for underrepresented students on college campuses. The creation of the Unity House, the university's multicultural center to be the hub of these initiatives highlights a centralized location to ensure we are strategic in our support for underrepresented students.
Areas of Need:
1. Support for a Summer Bridge Program to assist underrepresented students in their social and academic transition to the university.
2. Support for a Mentor Program specifically for underrepresented students, which would include motivational speakers, team builders, parent sessions. bulldog swag and an extended freshman orientation.
Thank you for your support!
