Story
At Mentoring Plus we work with many young people who have all sorts of challenges to deal with - through our volunteer mentoring, they have a safe space to talk to somebody on a weekly basis, somebody who can listen, who can do fun stuff like play games and somebody who is consistently there for them. During Covid-19 like many other charities we have had to adapt our work, our mentors are still there but we've had to be creative in the way we do mentoring now. Messages on WhatsApp or short films which our practitioners are able to share with the mentees in a safe and secure way - this enables mentoring to continue at a very important time for our young people.
We have been sending out activity packs to our young people with craft items and we know they will make all sorts of things. We thought it would be great to get everybody involved so we have launched #TimetoTake5 - by choosing 5 items, any items you craft with - the challenge is to make something creative and share with us, nominate 5 friends or family and donate £5 to Mentoring Plus so we can continue to support young people locally.
