The Diocese of Canterbury

A Place to Call Home

Our theme for this years Advent Justice Appeal is 'A Place to Call Home'. In a partnership with Christian Aid that will run for 3 years, we'll be inviting people to reflect on what 'home' means & what it might mean to lose or be far from your home...

Story

This years Bishops Advent Justice Appeal takes the theme of A Place to Call Home.

The Diocese has been working with Christian Aid on a programme which will run for three years, focusing on climate change and refugee issues. Resources for churches and school are now available online (www.canterburydiocese.org/advent-justice-appeal) and churches are encouraged to donate the collection from one of their Advent services towards the appeal. Funds raised will be shared between the Calais refugee chaplaincy post, Christian Aid's work with refugees and internally displaced people and the Kent Winter Shelter Network.

About the charity

Canterbury Diocese stretches from Maidstone to Thanet, the Isle of Sheppey to the Romney Marsh and includes 334 churches, 103 schools and a University with a Church of England foundation. Whilst the Archbishop of Canterbury is the bishop, oversight of the diocese is delegated to the Bishop of Dover.
