Story
Afghanistan continues to be in the news. Winter has arrived and the weather is very cold. Many Afghans have lost their jobs in recent months, and those who haven't often haven't been paid. As a result people are not able to provide for the basic needs of their families, needs such as food, clothers and education.
Hagar Afghanistan is continuing to work to provide for the basic needs of vulnerable families and individuals. In November and December we provided:
1) Food Provision: Giving food aid and basic essentials to existing clients and other vulnerable individuals and families who are currently displaced or whose livelihoods have been severely impacted. We have fed 723 of the most vulnerable families and will continue to do so over the coming months. We've also been providing good quality blankets to help families in the winter.
2) Healthcare: Providing primary healthcare for displaced persons, which includes establishing and running a mobile medical clinic under the care of Hagars in-house doctor.
3) Safe spaces for children: Creating a safe space for learning, education and recreation for children. We have welcome 330 children into these spaces in recent months.
Could you partner with us to ensure that this life-saving work continues? Afghanistan needs your help.
We remain committed to doing all that we can as an organisation to impact lives in this precious country. Hagar is known for being present even in adverse situations and as my colleague, and the Executive Director of Hagar Afghanistan, said last week:
We will not abandon them.
