Hats of POhWER

Hats throughout history have represented authority, independence and power. POhWER through its work helps people regain their personal independence, authority and power back through advocacy when their rights are not upheld in society.

Because a hat covers the head, the hat is said to symbolise thought and ideas; Therefore, if it is changed, an opinion is changed. Across the world, different hats signify different orders within the social hierarchy. POhWER seeks to address and change attitudes and opinions towards socially excluded, marginalised and vulnerable people.

We will be wearing a different hat throughout the fundraising campaign to raise awareness of POhWERs advocacy work and the barriers people face to having their voices heard.

How can you support POhWER?

1. Share a selfie on Social media wearing a POhWER-ful hat to raise awareness of the importance of advocacy work with the hashtag #HatsofPOhWER

2. Host a virtual dinner party or quiz with your family and friends with the theme of hats.

3. Hold a wear a hat to work or school day and charge a pound for people to wear their best hat . Donate the total raised to POhWER.

4. Host a Zoom call or a meeting with your colleagues wearing different hats in solidarity with POhWER's work and post a photo on social media.
