Story
East African Playgrounds is a UK registered charity and international NGO, working in East Africa to provide vulnerable children with play facilities and play based learning programmes to enable them to gain all the developmental benefits that play has to offer and the tools for future success. In Uganda, refugee children's futures are profoundly impacted by the lack of safe play facilities to heal, learn and develop. A lack of educational opportunities and unresolved trauma, can have a negative and lasting impact on the future mental and physical health and employment prospects of refugee children.
Play for Brighter Futures is an exciting UK Aid Match appeal that will provide play-based learning programmes and safe and exciting playground facilities to 17 communities in Bidibidi refugee settlement in Uganda, the second largest in the world. 57% of pre-school refugee children in Bidibidi don't have access to early years learning opportunities. These children have lost the stability of their home, their country and for some, their loved ones too - their early experiences robbing them of their childhood. East African Playgrounds will enable 27,000 refugee children to have increased access to early years education, supporting the long-term health, well-being and employment prospects of refugee children and empower them to map their own path to a brighter future.
From 1st March - 1st June, every £ donated to the appeal by UK residents will be matched by the UK government, allowing us to have twice the impact for children in Bidibidi!
