Forncett - A Village of Stories: The Restoration of St Peters Church, Forncett
St Peter's Church needs help NOW - we need your support!
After 4 months of forced closure the church reopened in October 2022. About 20% of the useable space has now been lost to structural scaffolding needed to re-enforce the Chancel roof. This clearly illustrates the need for urgent structural action and renovation for our Anglo-Saxon treasure. Please give as much as you can.
The finest example of a Saxon round tower in the country and a centre of village life for over 1,000 years, St Peters has had to be closed repeatedly to deal with structural problems.
We are on the Heritage At Risk Register; without critical repairs this wonderful Grade 1 listed building will be lost FOREVER.
We need to raise £25,000 towards the total for emergency work of £700,000. Work will take three years to complete. Please help.
We urgently need to:
Repair the roof, flint and stonework of walls, guttering and drainage
Every donation received will help us URGENTLY preserve this Saxon heritage.
