Story

The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra is committed to nurturing young talent and providing young people with access to high-quality music and opportunities, regardless of their background or financial income.

By supporting our work, your gift will help us to continue providing as many opportunities as possible for talented young performers in the Midlands through our four youth ensembles: CBSO Childrens Chorus, CBSO Youth Chorus, CBSO Youth Orchestra and Project Remix.

"I have found the Youth Orchestra very enthralling, playing music I would never have had the chance to anywhere else. It has been fun to meet other musicians, to experience the conducting of Michael Seal and to perform at big events. It is a great experience." Youth Orchestra member

With around 350 young people taking part in these ensembles, it costs the CBSO on average £250 to fund each person per season. But with continued cuts to funding year on year, we need your help.

Based in Symphony Hall, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra gives over 150 concerts each year in Birmingham, the UK and around the world, playing music that ranges from classics to contemporary, film music and even symphonic disco. With a far-reaching community programme and a family of choruses and ensembles, it’s involved in every aspect of music-making in the Midlands. But at its centre is a team of 75 superb professional musicians, and a 100-year tradition of making the world’s greatest music, right here in the heart of Birmingham.
