Story

In September, Blyth Star Enterprises is taking its service users from the Stakeford Nurseries to The Eden Project in Cornwall as part of its horticultural ‘Next Steps Project’.

While at The Eden Project, one of the Nurseries long-serving members of staff, 72-year old Alan Davison, has volunteered to complete the Skywire challenge.

The Skywire is the UK's longest and fastest zipline, reaching speeds of 60mph! For a man of 72, this is no small feat, but it's all in the name of charity and every penny raised will be put back into the Stakeford Nurseries to help us develop our services for our clients.

The Nurseries currently support 42 service users with a combination of lifelong mental ill health and learning disabilities. In a simulated working environment, clients learn about horticulture and land management as they develop life and social skills.

Our trip to The Eden Project will help our service users to expand their learning in horticultural environments outside of Blyth Star Enterprises. For many of our service users, this visit will be a once in a lifetime experience, made all the more special by Alan’s fundraiser, so please dig deep, every little helps!
