My story

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor us online.

David Fear & Alan Wood are two friends who were at School together 50 years ago. They toured France, Belgium & Holland by Bike. Now they are on the road again and are going to cycle the Canal du Midi in SW France from Toulouse to Sete on the Med. They aim to raise £2000 in memory of David's Doctor wife Carole, who died of cancer recently and was wonderfully cared for by the Hospice in her last days. They will be completely self -sufficient & will camp as they progress along the route.

The Canal du Midi is a World Heritage site. It was conceived during the reign of Louis XIV by Paul Riquet, a tax collector and visionary who dreamed of ocean-going ships sailing from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean sea. Work started a year before the Great Fire of London. The Canal is 16 metres wide to accomodate large vessels, and is an Engineering masterpeice.

David & Alan will cycle 240 kilometres along the Canal towpath. Please support the Proincess Alice in its care for the terminally ill. The NHS provides less than 25% of the funds needed to run the Hospice, so money is always needed.

Carole would have been very pleased that you did the cycle ride for the hospice. Love Anne Donation by Anonymous 30/09/04
