My story

The £6 million project to build our new hospice in Berkhamsted is underway. Detailed planning permission was finally granted in December and work has started at the site. The design is a farmhouse style and will house all our services, at present split over three sites.

The Inpatient Unit will increase from 8 to 14 beds, each room opening out onto a garden. There will be a dedicated Day Hospice, therapy rooms, and separate outpatient and education units.

David Stevens, the Chelsea Flower Show gold medal winner is donating a unique garden design for the Healing Garden.

A £2.5 million Capital Appeal has been launched to raise the remainder of the funds needed to complete the project. Headed up by Humphrey Norrington, ex-banker and Trustee of WorldVision, the challenge is to raise the capital from individuals, trusts, grants and companies together with a public appeal towards the end of the campaign. The New Hospice is due for completion by the end of 2006. If you would like to support the Capital Appeal, please donate on this page. For further information, please contact Trevor Barton, Campaign Director (01442-878181) for an information pack.
