Today in the North West there are over 5,000 men, women and children living with HIV - over 3,000 in Greater Manchester - and new infection rates are higher than ever. In Manchester alone it is estimated that 1 in 10 gay men are HIV+ve. But this virus doesn't discriminate; each year now, there are more new cases of HIV amongst straights than there are among gay people.
For almost 25 years, George House Trust has been providing vital support to people living with HIV. Now more than ever they need our support to continue helping the rising numbers of people still becoming infected each year. Of course, these are difficult times and I will understand completely if any of you feel unable to contribute this time around. Nevertheless, I am sure that George House Trust would be enormously grateful for any help they receive, especially now, however large or small the contribution. In this case, size really doesn't matter ;-)
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: George House Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Last year, I managed to raise £685 which, when added to the Gift Aid reclaimed of £151 came to a fantastic total of £836 raised for this very worthy cause. Let's see if this year, together, we can beat last year's total.
I'm also going to try to beat my personal best for the 10k of just over 46 minutes, so wish me luck!
Thanks a lot.
Carl Howard
