The Charity was formed and is run by parents who have all utilised the ward. The aim of the organisation is to preserve and protect the mental and physical health of parents, guardians and families of babies treated in Buscot Ward by the provision of information and support.

My story

Thank You for reading mine and Beth's page. We have set this page up in memory of our daughter, Sophie Nicole Brown.

Sophie (along with her twin sister, Hannah) was born at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading on 14th May 2009. They were born at 26 weeks+1, therefore 14 weeks premature.

Mummy sadly, was not far enough into pregnancy to be given steroids to help mature their lungs. Despite an amazing effort by our beautiful daughter, Sophie sadly fell asleep on the 1st June 2009.

We have expressed to family and friends that, rather than flowers, we would love people to donate money, in Sophie's memory, to the Babies In Buscot Support Charity, a very worthy cause which helps to raise money for life-saving (and, in the case of a Special care Baby Unit-Life-Creating) equipment.

If any money donated, helps a little child to live, we would like to think that Sophie can, in some way, live on in them.

**Update-30/6/09-due to the simply amazing response that Beth and I have had to the website, we have decided to be a bit adventurous and double our initial target to £2000. At some point in the future, we are considering various sponsored events, which we will no doubt keep people informed of, via this page, and also by other means.

Hannah is doing really well at the moment, and is being allowed brief (but encouraging) periods off assisted ventilation, once again, thank you to everybody for your kind gestures, contributions, and words of support and encouragement
