FOR INFORMATION REGARDING THE 6TH ANNUAL CARL O'SHEA FIVES TOURNAMENT TO BE HELD IN SEPTEMBER 2011, PLEASE CONTACT CHRIS ON:
Carl lost his life to suicide in February 2006 just 2 months before his 26th Birthday. Since then, we have raised more than £72,000 for SAMH. We now have a new target of £75,000, so your donations are as important as ever. This is our third fundraising page - the details of the others are below. Here are the details about some of the more recent fundraising we have done:
Thanks to Drew Skinner for braving a chest wax (and Linda Mitchell of Rumors, Shettleston Road, for leaving him soft as a baby's bum) in February 2011 raising £750. Prizes kindly donated by Belhaven Brewers, Tennents and Sims Automatics.
A ceilidh was held in the Trades Hall of Glasgow on 24th April 2010 to mark what would have been Cal's 30th birthday. Thank you to everyone who came along to remember Cal and help us raise £13,000 and to everyone who donated prizes.
Carl's friend, Chris Connolly, and his girlfriend, Sarah, organised the 4th annual Carl O'Shea Fives Tournament on the 20th September 2009 which raised a massive £2,500! Thanks to everyone who played football, especially those of you who travelled from afar, the many spectators and all those who donated prizes for the raffle. This tournament has now raised well in excess of £11,000. The tournament will be running again in September 2011.
A big thankyou has to go to the very generous customers of "The Glen Bar", "O'Kane's Bar" and "The Gantry" for their continued and generous support.
We were named Big Hearted Scotland's "Fundraiser of the Year" in 2007 and received an award presented by Alex Salmond. Thank you to everyone who has donated.
No doubt I will have forgotten someone who has helped to raise money - if so, please email me and I'll fix it right away!
Many thanks for your support. We cannot thank you enough for your very generous donations and your kind words in what has been a very difficult time.
The O'Shea family & Heather
