WE DID IT!!!! The sun shone, the bands played and the crowds cheered us on - a day to remember and all for such a worthy cause. Thankyou thankyou thankyou to everyone who sponsored us so generously and for all your words of encouragement.
Thank you for visiting our JustGiving page.
As a mother and daughter who both love running, we've decided to join forces to raise money for a cause that touched us both deeply when we heard about it.
On 25th October 2009 we will be running in the Great South Run with Sarah Hope and her team, raising money for the Limbless Association. Sarah's 4-year old daughter, Pollyanna, lost her leg in a freak accident in London in April 2007 when a bus mounted the pavement and crashed into her. Sarah's mother Elizabeth was tragically killed in the accident and Sarah herself suffered severe leg injuries - despite this she is courageously training to run the 'Run to The Beat' half marathon in September and the Great South Run.
Pollyanna is growing quickly and is now using her 3rd prosthetic leg, at school she is excelling in every subject, particularly PE. Pollyanna could not have made the progress she has without the amazing support of the Limbless Association. The charity provides information, advice and support for amputees of all ages and backgrounds, children like Pollyanna, servicemen returning from Afghanistan learning to cope with horrific injuries as well as those in poorer countries - for example in India, just £20 will buy a prosthetic leg.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they will never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they will send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. It’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
