I have been asked to support my friend Lil in her bid to raise money for a charity called ‘Jo’s Trust’ Fighting Cervical Cancer’ which assists and raises awareness about cervical cancer.
We have chosen to raise money for this charity because a good friend of Lil’s lost his mother, Jo, in 1999 as a result of the disease. To add to their family tragedy Alexander’s father, James, then also died of a brain tumour 4 years later. Jo was only 40 years old when she died, and James felt that if there had been greater public knowledge about the disease and suitable medical advice then Jo would have had a much higher chance of survival: she remained misdiagnosed and untreated for too long and passed away as a result. James set up ‘Jo’s Trust’ in order to provide information and spread the word about the disease in the hope that by spreading knowledge he could save lives.
