In aid of The Heart of Kent Hospice, and in memory of my mother, who recently died at the Hospice from ovarian cancer, I am undertaking an eight day trek, walking 7 to 9 hours a day, to accomplish the route along The Great Wall of China as it snakes along the ridge line of the Yanshan Mountain range. The trek will be very physically demanding as the wall is made up by thousands of steps.
The Heart of Kent Hospice is a registered charity specialising in palliative care to the people of Maidstone, Kent and the surrounding local communities. The specialist team offer skilled care, comfort, compassion and hope to people facing the challenge of life threatening illness.
At any one time, they support up to 280 patients, plus their families and carers. As a charity the services they offer are free of charge. However, this does mean that of the £2.5m that it currently costs per year to provide the care, they have to raise £1.8m from the community that they serve.
The Heart of Kent Hospice and I would be so grateful for any support, you can give!
