Event: Sony Ericsson Run to the Beat Half Marathon 2010, on 26 September 2010

Story

In a moment of pure madness i have agreed to do the Heart FM run the the beat half marathon - that is 13.1 miles and i can't run!!!

So i need lots of encouragement and donations - all of which will go to a charity very close to my heart - Verity the PCOS self help group.  Since i was diagnosed with PCOS when i was 19 years old, Verity (along with family and friends) has been a constant source of information and support.  It is extremely scary to be given a diagnosis of pcos after so many difficulties but Verity can help members understand the condition.

Now as a Trustee i also understand the hard work and time it takes to run a charity and especially money.

Verity is running the first ever National PCOS Awareness week from Sat 20 November 2010 to Sat 27 November 2010 - including conferences, raising awareness, service evaulations and much more.  Verity plays an important role in educating teenage girls, helping women come to terms with the potential health consequences and couples trying for a baby.

About the charity

Verity is a self help group set up in 1997 to help women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). The charity is completely self funded and is the only national charity for women with PCOS. PCOS affects millions of women in the UK and worldwide (approximately 5-10 per cent) .
