Hi Everyone!!

Well, I have now completed my Cycle Tanzania challenge, arriving home last Thursday after the most amazing trip - and what a challenge it was!!

The heat and the terrain were particularly challenging - some days cycling in temperatures of 100 degrees for 7/8 hours.  The landscape was mostly hilly as we headed inland away from the coast of Tanzania towards the destination in the Uluguru Mountains with very tough terrain - dirt/sand/stony tracks - over the 5 days we covered approximately 400km in total! It was pretty gruelling, but at the same time an experience of a life time!

We spent the last day with The Faraja Trust Fund which works  in partnership with the ICT Charity  - the three projects that they are working on are:  an education centre for street children, a monthly day centre and testing clinic for children with HIV/AIDS and finally the incredible and uplifting Naema Yamtoto Project in the slum areas of Morogroro that aims to teach 150 children on a daily basis - which we were privileged to visit.

The whole trip was a very humbling experience and words cannot really describe the sights and encounters  that we experienced along the way, but suffice it to say that your money is most definitely needed and appreciated by the Trust and makes a HUGE difference to the quality of life of these kids in many ways.  These children, who have nothing and want for everything in life, are an inspiration to us all with their huge smiles, curious eyes and ready affection to give to everyone!  Their cries of JAMBO JAMBO, "Hi" in Swahili, as we cycled through the many shanty towns and villages will stay with me for always.

So on an end note, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support and helping me towards my sponsorship target for ICT - who are on course for raising £200,00 from this event alone - and for experiencing this amazing country and its wonderful people!!

If you still haven't sponsored me but would like to, then do not hesitate, as every amount, no matter how small or large - makes a massive difference to these kids, believe me!

Best Wishes

Caroline

The ICT exists for the purpose of relieving child poverty and sickness and helping some of the world's poorest children in Africa and Asia to have a chance to build a better future by providing education and healthcare. This year ICT are focusing on the plight of the children of Tanzania, in particular those living with HIV/AIDS and suffering the effects of poverty.

£5 will pay for tetanus vaccinations for 20 kids

£15 will provide 2 street children with healthcare for one month

£20 will cover the cost of school uniform and annual school fee for 1 child for a year

£100 will offer care and support to a child worker/orphan and their family for two months.
