Thank you for visiting my fundraising event, this is my 1st Justgiving page & I'm really looking forward to raising money in memory of some special people, who are unfortunately no longer with us.

Aged just 28, my Uncle Calum collapsed and died following a brain haemorrhage. Other members of our immediate family were also affected by debilitation due to brain haemorrhage and related events- my Grandad (Calum's father), who suffered a stroke and partial paralysis resulting from a brain haemorrhage and my Grandma (his wife) who, following a period as my Grandads carer, also experienced but after a month in a coma, survived two blood clots in the brain. If there was a type of illness which has had a profound and devastating effect on my family, it would be those conditions supported by BASIC.

In memory of these three special and much loved people and in order to help those currently experiencing similar events, I have completed a  number of running events in 2009/2010 and have recently completed -

My first Half-Marathon in August - the Nairn Highland Games Half Marathon in August (3 mins under my predicted time)

A repeat of my first ever running event - the Great Scottish 10K in Glasgow (new PB)

The first Metric Marathon in Scotland - the Edinburgh Kilomathon 16.3 miles (20 seconds under predicted time!)

And now? My first Marathon attempt- the 27th Firenze Marathon in Florence Italy on 28th November.

All funds donated on this page go to BASIC though and they're the main cause I run for. With your generosity, I have achieved my original target, but there is always more work to do within charities, so your generous support is greatly appreciated. Please remember that before June 2009 I hadn't run more than the distance to the bar for last orders in over 20 years! Therefore, please sponsor me as I undertake a huge task.

Thanks to Amanda, Jane, Linda, Colin, Ann, Fetcheveryone.com and my ever-suffering husband Liam and family for their continued help with training, motivation and support.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: BASIC (Brain And Spinal Injury Centre) gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
