Story

Sponsor our live at work week to support the new Bukumbi Care Centre through Bridge2Aid!

The week of April 5th, Louie Montellano, Wayne Fisher and Len Camporeale (with guest appearances from other team members) will be living in the Gillingham car park to raise money and awareness for this project.

How much do you spend commuting to work each week, day or month?  Can you donate all or some of that money to support a community with so little?  I don’t think it could be described in words, no matter how cold or wet it might be we know our accommodation in the car park are far more luxurious than those in Mwanza.

At the end of April Len Camporeale will be travelling with a team of people to , to support an organization we all know well and admire for their work in  Bridge2Aid.  The team is raising funds to rebuild the Bukumki Care Centre, a project that started earlier this year.

At the beginning of February the older ladies of Bukumbi Care Centre (BCC) were inside the building cooking over

open fires in a smoke filled room, the community block has been used for an indoor kitchen, store and meeting place but it is not a good environment for any of these activities.  The building has started to be renovated ready for Len's visit, so far the roof has been entirely removed and replaced, ceiling boards have been fitted and painted, windows have been repaired and had mesh installed, the floors and doors have all been repaired.  It is now ready for Len and the team to finish off the project and hand it back to the community.
