My story...where to begin.... I have been ill for many years, with no one knowing what was wrong with me. fatigue, pain, swelling, rashes that would come and go. The pain was enough to leave me lying in bed for days, but with everything else on top it was not a fun journey to be on. 

 It took years to finally be diagnosed with SLE Lupus. Lupus is a chronic auto-immune condition that I will have to live with for the rest of my life. When it is not active, I can live a very changed life from the one I had before, but when it is active....well that is when I know the power of the disease. It is debilitating, it can effect everything from the kidneys to the brain and quite frankly it can be devastating. There is currently no cure, doctors treat the symptoms, often by suppressing the immune system so that it stops attacking us. Treatment is hard, the disease is hard and it's time to get moving and raise some cash!!

So I am doing this 5K run to honor all of us that continue to fight through it, hold our heads high and battle on with dignity - although when I reach the finish line I cannot promise a dignified crossing! Please give whatever you can to help Lupus Uk with the wonderful work they do. Supporting families, helping with research and so on. They have been a great resource for me and so many others.
