Hello!
It's done! It's all over...plenty of sweat (given the unexpectedly high temperatures on Sunday) but fortunately no blood or tears resulted in an official time of 3:59:07. My pace was consistent at around 9 minute miles and my half marathon split was 1:58. Not quite up to the pace predicted from training (especially given the 1:47:30 for the Reading half in the fetching banana suit pictured), but I am very pleased none the less!
As you can see from the counter above, the total raised for BAAF is comfortably above my target which is a fantastic testament to all of your generosity. I am immensely grateful to all of you. To give you an idea of how significant a difference that will make to BAAF's work: (i) £10 provides information packs for three prospective adoptive parents; (ii) £25 pays for BAAF to respond to 15 telephone calls from potential carers for children awaiting adoption; and (iii) £50 pays for 20 copies of BAAF’s Be My Parent newsletter (which features children in need of a family).
Thank you so from me and all at BAAF. Your support means a great deal.
Big sweaty hugs,
Catie - the speedy banana.
