My story

In an exciting launch of an exciting project, a blind man, Colin McArthur will take the controls of a brand new 3million pound, 260 seat Wightlink catamaran on the Solent between Ryde and Portsmouth on Thursday October 22nd.

The event will raise money for RP Fighting Blindness, which will fund a research project being carried out by Southampton university hospital, to test whether adult stem cells from the Iris and Cornea can be used to grow retina cells that have been destroyed by defective genes.

This could lead to the restoration of sight for those who have gone blind through retinitis pigmentosa.

For more information on retinitis pigmentosa or RP Fighting Blindness please go to www.brps.org.uk.
