Why your donation matters

Last year, we experienced one of the worst winters in decades and this year is already forecast to be even more severe.

During the winter months in County Durham & Darlington, an additional 400 vulnerable people die as a result of the cold and poor living conditions, with over 58,000 households in fuel poverty.

As part of a UK-wide appeal, ‘Surviving Winter’, County Durham Community aims to help thousands of people who suffer as a result of the cold weather. This includes the elderly, those with disabilities, families with small children living in fuel poverty and the homeless.

We are calling on those who can afford to forego their Winter Fuel Payment, to donate it to the Surviving Winter Appeal in order to help those for whom it is not nearly enough.
