My story
Hello from Jacqui O'Keeffe.
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I am a breast cancer survivor, having been diagnosed at the age of 44, 2 weeks after my mother died of the disease. This experience was not all negative since it made me re-evaluate my life - hence my moment of madness in agreeing to participate in this ride. Some of you may be aware that I rode a motorbike for a number of years. I can no longer regard myself as a biker - in fact I now ride a scooter to work - but the chance of riding a Harley Davidson from London to Edinburgh was too good to miss!! Thank you Harley Davidson!
This bike ride is in memory of my mother and a way of saying thank you to Breast Cancer Care for all the help and support they gave me when I really needed it. I also want to support the Lavender Trust with their particular focus on young women as I have been shocked by the increasing numbers who are afflicted with this disease. The impact of the treatment, surgery, and absence from work can have a much more devastating effect on younger women and their families.
Please dig deep and sponsor me online!
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Lavender Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support.
