Hi and welcome to my fundraising page.
Bad News: Sunday 5th April
I have torn my right calf due to a collapsed foot arch and on the physios advice will not be running London 2009 (ie. run it and you risk permanent injury!) I am bitterly disappointed and can only thank everyone hugely for their geneorus support both financially and personally.
What next? I am hopeful I will make a full recovery and I am going to enter the New Forest Marathon on Sunday 27th Sept. to ensure that I earn all the money you have donated. If you do not wish to support me on this run (still for Disability Challengers) then please drop me an email and I will try and sort a refund out with the charity. I am also hopeful that I will be able to run the 2010 London Marathon for Disability Challengers.
I can only apologise for the disappointing news - 6 months of hard work down the pan if so frustrating.
So why am I doing London 2009?
Well running a marathon takes a lot of time, dedication and hard work however it is absolutely nothing compared to caring , day in day out, for children with disabilities.
Disabilty Challengers support children with any form of physical, learning or sensory impairment. They provide a wide range of fun and challenging activities for children of all abilities. This can mean full time one-to-one support for some children. Above all they provide lots of fun. Their main base is in Guildford and they run projects throughout the whole of the south east. Please visit www.disability-challengers.org/ to find out more about the invaluable work they do.
How am I preparing?
Im trying to run at least 3 times a week in order to be ready for London and should be averaging around 30-40 miles a week come Jan/Feb which means something in the region of 800 miles between now and April 26th. I recently completed the St Neots Half Marathon in 1:43:58 and now realise how hard double that is going to be!
What can you do?
Please sponsor me by donating via this page. Even a small donation of £10 can go a long way to supporting a big project. Think about how much you earn in an hour or a day and how much good just a little bit of your money could actually do.
If nothing else just think about the pain and torture you will be putitng me through by sponsoring me - surely that is enough motivation for most of you.
How to donate
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Disability Challengers gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Thankyou for sponsoring me it means a lot not just to me but to all the children it will help.
