Why your donation matters

Over 70% of deaths from cancer now occur in the developing countries where cancer is killing more people than HIV/AIDS, TB and malaria combined. 80% of those patients have limited or no access to pain relief treatment. Despite these, cancer initiatives are excluded from the Millennium Development Goals programmes and receive less than 1% of global funding. It therefore falls upon charities such as the INCTR Challenge Fund to help health professionals address the growing cancer burden in these poorer countries.

The money you have raised will be used to provide treatment to children suffering from lymphoma in five treatment centres in Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania and Uganda or to help provide pain relief drugs for patients enrolled on INCTR Palliative Access (PAX) Programme in Nepal.

Case study: donations in action

Mahija was brought into the Ocean Road Cancer Institute, Dar-Es-Salaam, Tanzania, suffering from African Berkitt Lymphoma in 2007. She received a free, 3-week comprehensive course of chemotherapy and antibiotic treatment and was cared for by an INCTR sponsored doctor Dr Scanlan. She is now symptom-free and living happily with her family.
