Though not regulated, the Welsh 3000s is a recognised challenge in the worlds of hiking and mountaineering. Summer 2008 will herald a mammoth effort by crew members and supporters of Hoylake Lifeboat Station. Nik Hardman, Tom Singleton, and Lee and Kim Matthews will undertake the gruelling 15 Peaks Challenge to raise funds for the new Hoylake Lifeboat Station and Lifeboat. The team will begin the challenge by climbing Grib Coch then onto Garnedd Ugain, only another 13 peaks to go including Snowdon, onto their final destination of Foel Fras. The lads all have close maritime associations locally. Nik has been a crew member with Hoylake Lifeboat for 5 years now! Tom is a Coastguard Rescue Officer with HM Coastguard, Hoylake. Brothers Lee and Kim grew up a stone's throw from the beach at Meols and spent (and still do) a great many hours enjoying sailing and other maritime activities - and so all four are well aware of the importance of the new facilities to Hoylake Lifeboat. They will be ably supported by Hoylake RNLI tractor driver Mike Chapman, who will be providing the valley support on the walk with a minibus, to be kindly provided for the day by Liverpool Volkswagen.
Support Nik and his colleagues and help reach our target of £2m toward the cost of providing a new lifeboat station and lifeboat for the crew at Hoylake by sponsoring their challenge. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: RNLI - Royal National Lifeboat Institution will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
We do need your support to ensure Nik and his colleagues are provided with their new lifeboat station and lifeboat. Many thanks for your support! Read more: http://www.rnli.org.uk/rnli_near_you/north/event_detail?articleid=317065&categoryid=21826 http://www.welsh3000s.co.uk/
