Thanks for visiting Pat McKeever's Channel to Med fundraising page.

On 5th June 2009, in his 70th year, Pat McKeever an inspirational volunteer for Countess Mountbatten House Hospice will be taking part in a 800 mile cycle through France from the Channel to the Med.

His cycle will be solo and unsupported and in 16 different stages as he makes his way through France.

Pat's aim is to raise the profile and some funds for the hospice, which receives over £1m funding from the charity each year to ensure the services available to patients and families can continue.

Countess Mountbatten Hospice Charity provides funds to the hospice to enable extra staff to be provided to care for the needs of patients with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses, along with supporting their families and carers throughout illness and bereavement. As well as this the charity also funds new and improved equipment enabling the staff to better cater for the needs of patients; the full nursing care for all day care patients; the support of the volunteers providing vital services such as transport for patients and families in to and home from the hospice, the tea bar and much more.

The hospice provides support to over 3000 patients a year from the Southampton and South Central Hampshire through a 25 bed in-patient unit, day care centre, community nursing team and hospital palliative care team.

Anything you can give will help the charity to be able to continue to fund the services at the hospice, now and in the future.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Countess Mountbatten Hospice Charity gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
