Thank you for visiting my Just Giving Page!
As you know I am going to be running the London Marathon 2010, this has always been a dream of mine and your support in my effort is very much appreciated, however if you needed another reason why you should sponsor me then here is some information on the charity that I am running for Oxfam.
Oxfam. What springs to mind? Charity shops and second-hand clothes? Donkeys from the Oxfam Unwrapped gift catalogue, bought for people in far-flung lands? They're part of the picture. But think bigger. Much bigger. Big enough for 99 per cent of the great British public to have heard of them.
Oxfam fights poverty in three ways:
Campaigning for change
Poverty isn’t just about lack of resources. In a wealthy world it’s about bad decisions made by powerful people. Oxfam campaigns hard, putting pressure on leaders for real lasting change.
Development work
Poor people can take control, solve their own problems, and rely on themselves – with the right support. Fighting poverty, Oxfam funds long-term work worldwide.
Emergency response
People need help in an emergency – fast. Oxfam saves lives, swiftly delivering aid, support and protection; and we help people prepare for future crises.
£50 could pay a trainee teacher’s salary in Kenya for one month.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Oxfam gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
