HELP for HEROES - Big Battlefield Bike Ride
MANY THANKS TO ALL WHO HAVE SPONSORED.
I believe this is a charity really worth supporting. Whatever your views are on the rights or wrongs of the conflicts in Iraq and Afganistan, our boys (and girls) need our support now. The initial target is £5m to be used to help provide urgently needed specialist facilities at the tri-service rehabilitation centre, Headley Court.
I am supporting HELP for HEROES by taking part in the Big Battlefield Bike Ride, a bicycle ride across Normandy and Northern France, visiting some of the most significant WW1 and WW2 battle sites. This will be no picnic; the route is 322 miles (over 5 days) with hopefully an addition triumphant 20 mile through the streets of London on our return.
For me it will also be a personal achievement as I broke my leg in October and had to have the ankle pinned. I am still receiving physiotherapy to achieve full mobility but I am determined to complete.
All 300 riders have committed to raise £2000 each. I have pledged £500 personally and I am hoping I can raise the rest through sponsorship.
