From the money the foundation has raised so far, the Glen of Imaal Rescue Service has been helped to build their much needed base in County Wicklow!
A place to store precious equipment and vehicles away from the elements. Also a place to bring the Volunteers together to co-ordinate a rescue, as well as to eat & rest before returning to the beautiful but often treacherous mountains.
It has been built in sympathy with the landscape & uses solar panels & rain harvesting amongst other clever design features, to keep the environmental impact of their presence to a minimum.
Over the next few weeks the Foundation are sending a team of volunteer tradespeople out to the base, to assist with internal works, as well as taking a kitchen which has been donated by a local building firm.
Please help us to help them complete this wonderful project & to save more lives & educate more people about the beauty and danger of the mountains
